Manny and Jojo began their African safari in a jeep. They had two days to see all the wildlife they could. They were accompanied by their parents and the guide. On the first morning, they saw twelve elephants bathing in the lake. Manny also counted twenty-two zebras near the waterhole. A dozen baboons wandered in and started making noise and acting silly. Jojo laughed at their antics. Two pairs of zebras ran off in different directions on hearing the laughter. They also saw nine grey-crowned cranes fly away.
The next day everyone rode into the grassland. They stopped to look at a rhinoceros standing near a tree. While they were staring at it, the rhinoceros began to charge at them. Manny and Jojo screamed, but the guide drove them to safety. Travelling further, they found a pride of ten lions resting under an acacia tree. There were twenty-four monkeys hanging from the top branches of the tree.
Jojo and Manny also saw a giraffe and her baby standing near another tree. The giraffe stretched its neck to reach for some leaves. The guide tracked three hyenas roaming nearby, but they ran off when the jeep came close to them. Five ostriches ran past their jeep as they were returning to their rest house.
Everyone was tired at the end of the two days. They had seen no crocodile or cheetah. The lions hadn’t roared, but a rhino had charged at them. What an exciting adventure it was!
