Anna invited five of her friends for a weekend get-together. She was all excited, waiting for the Saturday to come! As the day finally arrived, Anna’s mother took her to the grocery store early that morning. ‘We need to buy some food items for your party,’ her mother said.
At the store, they bought:
► 9 cream rolls @ ₹ 15 each
► 9 burgers @ ₹ 35 each
► 1 dozen packets of pop candies @ ₹ 20 each
► 6 packets of marshmallows @ ₹ 25 each
► 12 chocolate bars @ ₹ 40 each
► 8 bags of barbecue flavour chips @ ₹ 30 each
► 6 mini bottles (300 mL) of cold drinks @ ₹ 35 each
Anna’s mother paid for all the items and then they returned home to make the final arrangements. All her friends reached her place at 6 p.m. sharp. Anna gathered all the food items and began opening the packages. She neatly served each of them a cream roll and a burger on a paper plate.
After everyone had their snacks, Anna realised that there were only three cream rolls and three burgers left. There wasn’t enough for everyone to have a second round of snacks. She asked, ‘How many of you want cream rolls and burgers?’ Three of them said, ‘Burger!’, while the other two wanted a cream roll each. Phew! There was enough left for each of them.
After a while, Anna and each of her friends opened a bag of chips and a packet of marshmallows to eat,and started playing a game of ‘dumb charades’ amongst themselves. Anna went around making sure that each of them had a mini bottle of cold drinks. They also played a few rounds of ‘trick-or-treat’ and ‘drop the handkerchief’.
Anna’s mother served them bread with some delicious soup and homemade dessert for dinner. Anna gave each of them a packet of pop candy and two chocolate bars. They left Anna’s place at 10:30 p.m. with their parents. They went to sleep that night, satisfied with the food they ate, the fun they had, and their everlasting friendship!
